Mary Giuliani Stephens (born June 23, 1955) is the mayor of Woodbury, Minnesota. She was a member of the Woodbury City Council from January 2007 until January 2011.
Stephens won the 2010 Woodbury mayoral election and was inaugurated on January 1, 2011. She successfully ran for reelection in the 2014 Woodbury mayoral election.
Stephens grew up in Rochester, Minnesota. She graduated from Mayo High School in 1973. After graduating from University of Michigan in 1977, she attended the William Mitchell College of Law, graduating in 1981 with a J.D.
Stephens practiced law for Moore, Costello & Hart in St. Paul, Minnesota where she became a partner and practiced commercial litigation. Stephens was an attorney for 25 years before being elected to the Woodbury City Council in November 2005. She ran for Woodbury mayor in 2010, succeeding long-time Woodbury mayor Bill Hargis. Stephens ran for reelection in 2014 and was uncontested.
On November 29, 2017, Stephens announced she was seeking the Republican endorsement for governor of Minnesota. She is currently the only female Republican candidate and would be the first female governor of Minnesota.
