Monroe Township is a township in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,336 at the 2010 census.
Monroe Township occupies a large area in southeastern Bedford County. Its eastern border follows the crest of Rays Hill and is also the Bedford County–Fulton County line. The western border of the township follows the parallel crest of Tussey Mountain. Ten other named ridges, all parallel, occupy the rest of the township.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 87.7 square miles (227.1 km2), of which 87.6 square miles (226.8 km2) is land and 0.077 square miles (0.2 km2), or 0.11%, is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,372 people, 507 households, and 404 families residing in the township. The population density was 15.6 people per square mile (6.0/km²). There were 672 housing units at an average density of 7.6/sq mi (2.9/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.81% White, 0.29% African American, 0.36% Native American, 0.15% Asian, and 1.38% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.58% of the population.
