The next Moscow mayoral election to be held in September 2018, in common election day. To be elected a candidate must get more than 50% of votes. If no one achieves 50%, a runoff is to be held in 14 days. Only the two most successful candidates from the first round participate in the second round.
Incumbent Mayor Sergey Sobyanin is eligible to seek re-election.
Two of the candidate from the Yabloko party announced about its participation in elections of the mayor of Moscow. It was decided to hold primaries to select a candidate.
