Mount Pleasant is a town in Westchester County, New York, in the New York metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, the town population was 43,724. The villages of Valhalla, Hawthorne, Thornwood, Pleasantville, Sleepy Hollow, and a small portion of Briarcliff Manor lie within the town, as well as a number of hamlets.
The John D. Rockefeller Estate was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 as a National Historic Landmark.
Mount Pleasant is located about 27 miles north of Manhattan. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 32.7 square miles (85 km2), of which 27.7 square miles (72 km2) is land and 5.0 square miles (13 km2), or 15.26%, is water.
