"New Best Friends" is the tenth episode of the seventh season and 93rd episode overall of the post-apocalyptic horror television series The Walking Dead, which aired on AMC on February 19, 2017. The episode was written by Channing Powell and directed by Jeffrey F. January.
The episode focuses on Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group's encounter and discovery of a mysterious collective, while searching for a missing Alexandrian; its inhabitants are unlike any they have come across. It also features the reunion of Daryl and Carol.
At an abandoned parking lot, King Ezekiel (Khary Payton), Morgan (Lennie James), and several Kingdommers, including Richard (Karl Makinen), wait for the group of Saviors to arrive for their weekly supply drop. During the rendezvous, one specific Savior, Jared (Joshua Mikel), the Savior Richard fought during a previous delivery, plants himself obnoxiously close to Richard, starting trouble with him, and demands he hand his weapon over. Richard refuses, but eventually relinquishes over his gun by the command of Ezekiel. However, Richard insults an angered Jared, who lunges at him, only to be struck and blocked by Morgan's fighting stick; Richard is unharmed. From that action, Jared seizes and keeps Morgan's wooden staff away from him. The Saviors leave with a warning from the group leader, Gavin (Jayson Warner Smith). Back at the Kingdom, Richard hands Daryl (Norman Reedus) a new crossbow and explains that they share the same goal: killing the Saviors. Daryl is asked by Richard to help him defeat the Saviors; Daryl agrees.
