The New Jersey gubernatorial election of 1973 was a race for Governor of New Jersey held on November 6, 1973. Democrat Brendan Byrne defeated Republican nominee Charles W. Sandman Jr., who defeated the incumbent William T. Cahill in the Republican primary, with 66.67% of the vote.
