Petunia vein clearing virus (PVCV) is a virus of the family Caulimoviridae. This virus is known to infect plants, specifically Petunia hybrida. It carries a 7205 base pair genome of double-stranded DNA within isometric viral particles. PVCV can exist as an endogenous provirus within the P. hybrida genome and may be induced by environmental stress or wounding. Infections with PVCV may generally be asymptomatic under favorable growing conditions, though active infections may cause vein clearing or yellowing of leaves (chlorosis).
