Pomona College is a private, nonsectarian, coeducational, liberal arts college located in Claremont, California, United States. Established in 1887, it is the founding member of the Claremont Colleges consortium. Pomona is a highly selective, four-year undergraduate institution and enrolled approximately 1,660 students in Fall 2016. The college maintains 48 majors and over 2,000 consortium-wide courses.

The college's 140-acre (57 ha) main campus is located in a residential community near the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. The campus is located immediately adjacent to the "Village", an area of Claremont that has grown around the college, providing residents with various dining and shopping options. Downtown Los Angeles is just 35 miles (56 km) to the west, and within 50 miles of the campus, Southern California is accessible for academic and cultural exploration.

Pomona College was ranked the #1 university in the United States by Forbes in 2015, and is currently ranked seventh among all liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report and seventh among all undergraduate institutions in the United States by Forbes. The college had a 9.1% acceptance rate for the 2020 admissions cycle and an endowment of $2.101 billion, giving it the sixth highest endowment per student of any college or university in the United States. Among the current student body, 70% of students hail from out of state, 60% receive need-based financial aid, and 64% identify as students of color and international students.

Pomona College was established as a coeducational institution on October 14, 1887. The group’s goal was to create a college in the same mold as small New England institutions. The College was originally formed in Pomona, California; classes first began in a rental house on September 12, 1888. The next year, the school moved to Claremont, at the site of an unfinished hotel. This building would eventually become Sumner Hall, current location of the Admissions and the Office of Campus Life. The name Pomona College remained after the relocation. The College’s first graduating class had ten members in 1894.
