Princeton is a city in Franklin County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 277.
Princeton had its start about 1869 by the building of the railroad through that territory. It was named after the city of Princeton, Illinois.
The railroad no longer runs through Princeton, and the former tracks have been converted into the Prairie Spirit rail trail.
Princeton is located at 38°29′18″N 95°16′13″W / 38.48833°N 95.27028°W (38.488387, -95.270357). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.33 square miles (0.85 km2), all of it land.
As of the census of 2010, there were 277 people, 109 households, and 78 families residing in the city. The population density was 839.4 inhabitants per square mile (324.1/km2). There were 121 housing units at an average density of 366.7 per square mile (141.6/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 95.3% White, 1.1% Native American, and 3.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.3% of the population.
There were 109 households of which 37.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.2% were married couples living together, 14.7% had a female householder with no husband present, 3.7% had a male householder with no wife present, and 28.4% were non-families. 22.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 2.97.
