In the 2012 European Championships, he originally won the silver medal in the -77 kg class. But because Erkand Qerimaj of Albania was banned for doping use, Martin was awarded the gold medal.
At the 2012 Summer Olympics he won the bronze medal in the men's 69kg category, lifting a total of 332 kg.
