Richard Deitsch is an American sportswriter. He has written for Sports Illustrated since 1997, where he currently writes a sports media column.
Deitsch has a B.A. in communications and political science from the University at Buffalo and an M.S. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He is currently an adjunct professor at Columbia.
During the 2008-09 academic year, he was at the University of Michigan, studying as a Knight-Wallace Fellow. While there, he examined the intersection of 20-somethings and the sports blogosphere.
Deitsch is known for his criticism of several prominent sports media figures, including Darren Rovell, Jason Whitlock, Clay Travis, Skip Bayless, and Piers Morgan. Deitsch is based in New York City.
