Richard Steere (author)


Richard Steere (1643 – 1721) was a colonial American merchant and poet.

Steere was born in Chertsey, Surrey, England, probably in 1643. He is known for his book of poetry A Monumental Memorial of Marine Mercy and The Daniel Catcher (1713), an anti-Catholic answer to 's Absalom and Achitophel by John Dryden.
