Sergei Valeriyevich Prokopyev (Russian: Сергей Валерьевич Прокопьев) born on February 19th 1975 in Sverdlovsk is a Russian cosmonaut selected in 2010. He was a major until his selection and a Commander of a Tu-160-squadron.
In October 2010 Prokopyev was selected as a test-cosmonaut candidate of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center Cosmonaut Office. He was qualified as a test cosmonaut in July 2012.
He was assigned as the back-up commander for Soyuz TMA-18M and is assigned as Backup for Soyuz MS-07 and as commander for Soyuz MS-09.
Prokopyev is not married and has no children.
