Stonecrest, Georgia, is the name given to the newest city to be incorporated in DeKalb County, Georgia. The boundaries of the new city generally lie in the far southeastern corner of the county, and a smaller portion just north of Interstate 20. The new city will border the existing municipality of Lithonia, Georgia, as well as Rockdale County, Georgia and Henry County, Georgia. Residents in the area voted in the November 2016 General Election to approve the city. In March 2017, elections will be held to elect representatives for the proposed 5 city council districts as well as a citywide Mayoral vote. Currently, the area is represented at the county level by commissioners Mereda Davis- Johnson, and Gregory Adams.
The area is home to the Mall at Stonecrest, as well as Panola Mountain State Park. Initially, the city will receive police services from DeKalb County and Fire services from DeKalb County Fire and Rescue.
