Description	The ribbon drape is of purple and white stripes. The medal is gold in the shape of a heart surmounted by the Alamo Mission in San Antonio. Within the medal is a purple heart with a star of five points, encircled by olive and live oak branches, the Coat of Arms of Texas.

The Texas Purple Heart Medal is an award within the Texas Military Forces, within the United States Armed Forces. It is the third highest of the military decoration that may be awarded to a member of the Texas Military Forces after the Texas Legislative Medal of Honor and the Texas Medal of Valor.

The Texas Purple Heart Medal may be awarded to members of the Texas Military Forces.

The Texas Purple Heart Medal is awarded to any member of the State Military Forces of Texas after 11 September 2001, who was inducted into federal service from the Texas Military Forces, and meets the criteria for an award of the Federal Purple Heart Medal.
