Tha Block Is Hot is the debut studio album by American hip hop recording artist Lil Wayne; it was released on November 2, 1999, by Cash Money Records. Except the use of the word "fuck", the album is nearly free of explicit lyrics from Wayne himself, due to his mother's wishes. The most violent and sexual verses were done by Big Tymers and the other Hot Boys.
The album sold 230,000 copies in its 1st week in the United States of America, and debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart. In the 2nd week, it sold 120,000 copies in the United States of America. On December 10, 1999, It was certified Platinum by the RIAA.
