The album The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire, Vol. 2 with songs of Earth, Wind & Fire from the late 1970s to late 1980s was released in 1988 and re-released on May 30, 2000 with two bonus tracks. The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire, Vol. 2 has been certified gold in the US by the RIAA for sales of over 500,000 copies.
A single included on the album, "Turn On (The Beat Box)" (originally from the soundtrack to the movie Caddyshack II) reached number 26 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. The album also covers releases missed by the first "Best Of" album released ten years earlier, covering material from the Open Our Eyes album, and additional singles from Spirit and All 'N All. Also Head to the Sky, I Am, and Raise! is covered.
Turn on (The Beat Box) was featured in the feature film Caddyshack II.
"Fantasy" from All 'N All appears on both The Best Of albums.
