Theodore Boone: The Abduction, written by John Grisham, is the second book in the Theodore Boone series. It is written for 11- to 13-year-olds.
13 year old Theodore Boone's best friend April is not happy. Her mum is a neglective hippie and her dad leaves her mum for days on end to tour with his band.
The story starts with Theo finding out that April has been abducted. The fear is that the notorious criminal and cousin to April, Jack Leeper, has kiddnaped her. He has been seen around the area. Leeper is caught and says he knows where April is but won't tell the police unless he is given money. Theo and his friends search the town but are stopped by unhelpful policemen. The situation is made worse when a body is pulled out of the river. However, after a few days, the police discover it was a man.
Theo realises that April could actually be with her dad, who is touring fraternity houses with his band. He and his friends search for pictures on Facebook pages and eventually spot April. Theo persuades his Uncle Ike to drive him to the next destination of April's father's band. His parents are away and he is staying at a friends house so they think it will be easy for him to escape. However, the friend's sister takes a liking to Theo. Eventually, Theo escapes and finds April. She left with her Dad because she was home alone and really scared. They escape from the band manager and return April home.
