Tramlink route 3 is one of four tram routes operated as part of the Tramlink network in south London. The route is owned and operated by Transport for London (TfL).
The section between Waddon Marsh and Wimbledon runs broadly along the alignment of the former West Croydon to Wimbledon Line.
On 9 November 2016, a route 3 tram derailed near Sandilands tram stop killing 7 people and injuring over 50. The cause was excessive speed on a curve, however underlying causes of the tram speeding are under investigation. The driver of the tram has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.
