Tirumalagiri is a major suburb of Secunderabad, India. Trimulgherry is the anglicised name for Tirumalagiri. It is to the north of Hyderabad.
The suburb has many smaller residential townships. Adjacent suburbs like Karkhana and AOC centre are often considered part of Tirumalagiri. In the past 15 years, this suburb has become an important residential area in the twin cities. Many colonies, townships and apartments came up in this suburb.
Close by a small lake known as the Hasmathpet fish to the city.
Historically, Secunderabad constituted a combination of three villages namely, Tirumalagiri, Bowenpally and Marredpally. It has some historic buildings built during the British era like an old British Jail, a Medical college. Sir Ronald Ross who discovered cure for Malaria worked not far from this place at Sir Ronald Ross Institute of Parasitology.
There are many shops for all kinds of needs in this suburb. In 2002, a lot of garment factory outlets opened in the suburb. Many branded clothes for all ranges can be found here at discounted prices. Because of this, people from many parts of the city come to shop here.
TheRTA office, the office of the Transport Department, which serves entire Secunderabad Region (AP 10), is a major landmark. Many banks started operating since 2002, catering to the growing population of this suburb, like SBI etc..
Specialist Grocery shops like FabIndia, Food World are located here.
A modern mall, Rainbow Mall has some good shops and restaurants, including Fab India. The old Monda Market was shifted during the TDP Govt regime near Hasmatpet lake. The Government built a big wholesale market for vegetables called as Bowenpally Market Yard (believed to be the largest market yard in Asia).
