Tropidia is a genus of terrestrial, partly myco-heterotrophic orchids distributed across the warmer parts of both the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. Species are known that are native to China, Japan, the Indian Subcontinent, Indonesia, Indochina, Philippines, New Guinea, Australia, Latin America (from Mexico to Ecuador), the West Indies, Florida, and various islands of the Pacific (Solomon Islands, Fiji, New Caledonia, Galápagos, Vanuatu, the Ryukyus, etc.)
