The Venezuelan tyrannulet (Zimmerius vilissimus petersi) is a bird in the family Tyrannidae. It is found in Colombia and Venezuela. It is usually considered a subspecies of the paltry tyrannulet. However, the IOC further splits the bird into two species, the specious tyrannulet (Z. improbus) in north-east Colombia and north-west Venezuela and Venezuelan tyrannulet (Z. petersi) in northern Venezuela.
