W&W is a Dutch EDM-duo, consisting of Willem van Hanegem and Wardt van der Harst. They celebrated their first big successes in the area of trance music with their debut single "Mustang". After completing their trance career in 2012 with the founding of their record label "Mainstage Music", they started being active in the genres Big room house and Progressive house, followed by the release of their commercial breakthrough "Bigfoot" in 2014. Especially "Waves" and "Arcade" with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike reached big success. In 2017, they returned to their original trance style with the NWYR project.
Both began to build an interest for the genre at a young age. After the first successes as solo producers, the two DJs met for the first time at the Trance Energy Festival 2017 in the Netherlands. After building up a friendship, they started working on common songs. With the track "Mustang", which appeared in the same year, the duo landed a surprising success. On the basis of the existing contract of Van der Harst with "Armada Music", the song was released as a single. Within a short time the track reached high popularity in several forums and music platforms. After Sander van Doorn played the song in 2008 at the Trance Energy Festival, the duo got a name in the trance scene.
In the coming years, numerous single releases and appearances happened at many festivals in the trance music. In addition, they founded their own record label "Mainstage Music", as a sub-label of "Armada Music". Alongside to their own publications, "Mainstage" published the singles of numerous other artists such as Twoloud, Headhunterz or Wildstylez as well. They publish a "Best Of” compilations and a weekly, one-hour podcast too. In 2011, they made their first jump into the DJ Mag-List, where they reached the 36th place.
With the Single "Lift Off" which was released on December 3, 2012, the duo caused confusion among their fans, since the track wasn’t produced in their typical style, but much more showing elements of the currently very popular big-room-genre. Shortly thereafter, they officially announced the change to the big-room- and electro-house-scene. "Lift Off" was able to reach position 12 of the official Dutch Top-40 within a very short time. This song attracted the attention of Dutch musician Hardwell to the duo. He took them to his record label "Revealed Recordings" for their upcoming singles "Trigger" and "The Code", which was produced in collaboration with the also to the EDM changing Ummet Ozcan. The Code was already supported by Hardwell before its release of, and shortly thereafter it was ranked on the first on the Beatport charts. Both for W&W, and for Ummet Ozcan it became the first number-one in this download portal.
