Waterloo station (/ˌwɔːtərˈluː/) is a central London terminus on the National Rail network in the United Kingdom, located in the Waterloo area of the London Borough of Lambeth, near the South Bank of the River Thames. It is also known as London Waterloo and is connected to a London Underground station of the same name and is adjacent to another National Rail station called Waterloo East on the South Eastern Main Line.
Waterloo main line station is one of 19 in the country that are managed by Network Rail and the station complex is in fare zone 1. It is the eastern terminus of the South Western Main Line to Weymouth, with direct services to destinations such as Epsom, Woking, Guildford, Reading, Basingstoke, Portsmouth, Southampton, Salisbury, Bournemouth, Poole, Weymouth and Exeter. The first railway station on this site opened in 1848; the present structure was inaugurated in 1922. Part of the station is a Grade II listed building.
