The West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education and Skill Development(Bengali: পশ্চিমবঙ্গ রাজ্য কারিগরি ও বৃত্তিমূলক শিক্ষা এবং দক্ষতা উন্নয়ন পর্ষদ) (Erstwhile West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education and Training)(Bengali: পশ্চিমবঙ্গ রাজ্য বৃত্তিমূলক শিক্ষা ও প্রশিক্ষণ সংসদ) is a statutory body under the West Bengal state government for administration and examining Vocational courses in West Bengal. The courses are offered from various affiliated Institution like Higher Secondary, Secondary Schools and Polytechnic Colleges across the State of West Bengal. It has it headquarters in Karigori Bhavan, 5th Floor, Plot-B/7, Action Area-III, Newtown, Rajarhat, Kolkata,West Bengal, 700160, India.
It was set up in 2005. Before 2005 West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education was in the administration of vocational education in West Bengal.
The Higher Secondary Course offered by the Council consist of two parts, i.e. Class XI and Class XII, under various section like Engineering and Technology, Agriculture, Business and Commerce etc. subjects under Higher Secondary Examination level are 1. 1st Language 2. 2nd Language Language group is common to all but there are options to choose from Bengali/Hindi/Nepali/English A few major subjects are listed below under E&T discipline 3.Civil construction and Maintenance Technology 4. Computer Assembly and Maintenance 5. Automobile Mechanics 6. Consumer and Industrial Electronics Mechanics 7. IT Enable service etc. Also common subjects like Technical Drawing and Additional subjects are Physics,Chemistry,Mathematics Also certificate course for VIII pass students is also offered from this council under various affiliated Institutes.
