Welcome to Some have formed a Project to improve and organise articles which relate to the United Kingdom. We are dedicated to improving these articles and if you would like to help, please add your name to the participants!
was formed with the intent of improving articles and coverage related to the United Kingdom in a fair and accurate manner, with an emphasis on subjects with national significance. Editors are encouraged to also participate in the more regional and/or topic specific UK related projects listed below.
It is expected that as this project grows we will be able to branch out into notice boards for the individual countries of the UK. It is intended that these will run alongside the main UK board.

Material from the following sources are available on subscription databanks. The specific material may be in abstract, citation, or full text format. To obtain information, please send me an e-mail indicating the e-mail address to send to, as well as the specific subject of interest or the title and dates of sources requested, and I will forward what I can find. Most UK public libraries offer their members access to a wide range of online resources which can be accessed from any computer (e.g. at home or work, without having to physically visit the library). These can include The Times archive 1785-1985, Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, Oxford English Dictionary, 19th-century newspapers, Newsbank (current national and regional newspapers), Encyclopedia Brittanica and more. They also usually offer further databases which are for in-library use only. Find your local library's website and look for "Online resources" or "24 hour library". You will need to join the library, and have a membership number, to use the online resources: some libraries allow you to join online.
