The Wilmington Sharks are a baseball team in the Coastal Plain League, a collegiate summer baseball league. The Sharks play their home games at Buck Hardee Field at Legion Stadium in Wilmington, North Carolina. Buck Hardee Field is more commonly referred to as "The Shark Tank"
The Sharks are a pioneer member of the Coastal Plain League, and they have been part of the league since its inception in 1997.
The Sharks finished the 2016 season with a 32-22 record and finished in 2nd place in the East. They made the playoffs for the 5th time in the past 6 seasons. This years playoff format was single elimination with the Sharks as the #2 seed getting parried with #3 seed Wilson Tobs, The Sharks lost to the Wilson Tobs 14-1 in Wilmington in front of 935 fans. The Sharks averaged 1,274 fans at home this season they also set a new "Shark Tank" attendance record with 3,309 fans for the last home regular season game against the Edenton Steamers.
