Winter on Fire: Ukraine's Fight for Freedom (Ukrainian: Зима у вогні: Боротьба України за свободу, Zyma y vohni: Borot'ba Ukrayini za svobodu) is a 2015 documentary film about the Euromaidan protests in Ukraine, a coproduction of Ukraine, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Produced in part by Netflix, it played at various film festivals before its release on October 9, 2015 on the online streaming service.
The film had its world premiere at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival. At the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, it won the Grolsch People's Choice Documentary Award. In 2016, the film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a rating of 95% with an average rating of 7.7. Jay Weissberg from Variety stated that Winter on Fire is an "accessible film, with greater TV appeal, but it’s also more limited by its insistence on shoehorning everything into one perspective, albeit a perspective shared by many."
