Yelninsky District (Russian: Ельнинский райо́н) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the twenty-five in Smolensk Oblast, Russia. It is located in the southeast of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,808.15 square kilometers (698.13 sq mi). Its administrative center is the town of Yelnya. Population: 14,948 (2010 Census);17,457 (2002 Census);19,699 (1989 Census). The population of Yelnya accounts for 67.5% of the district's total population.
