Mersin İdmanyurdu (also Mersin İdman Yurdu, Mersin İY, or MİY) Sports Club; located in Mersin, east Mediterranean coast of Turkey in 1988–89. Mersin İdmanyurdu (MİY) football team has participated in Second League in 1988–89 season and finished 6th in Group B.
Preparation games:
Mersin İdmanyurdu took place in the 1988–89 Second League season. League was played by 53 teams in three groups one with 17 teams and two with 18. Nine teams had been promoted from lower league, whereas four had been relegated from upper league. Season was started on 20 August 1988 and ended on 14 May 1989. Top teams in each group promoted to 1989–90 First League, whereas bottom three teams in Group A and bottom four teams in Groups B and C were relegated to 1989–90 Third League at the end of the season. In Group B winner was the second team of Bursaspor whose first team was in 1988–89 First League and took place among the relegated teams. Therefore, no promotion occurred. After that season TFF decided that only one team from each group can take place in professional leagues.
Mersin İdmanyurdu took place in the 1988–89 Second League season in Group B and finished 6th with 14 wins and 48 goals.
