The 2007 season was Molde's 1st season back in the Adeccoligaen after relegation from the Tippeligaen in 2006. They finished in 1st position and in the Norwegian Cup where they were knocked out in the first round by KIL/Hemne.

The winner and runner-up in the First Division are automatically promoted to the Norwegian Premier League. The third-placed team in the First Division and the 12th-placed team in the Premier League meet in a playoff at the end of the season. The four teams finishing at the bottom of the table are automatically relegated to the Second Division.
