Damal Chennappa Nayagar

Damarla Chennapa Naicker was the Nayak of Kalahasti and Vandavasi, and Dalavoy, Commander-in-Chief under Venkatapati Raya of Vijayanagara Empire. The city of Chennai is named after him. The line of Nayaks were chieftains during the Vijayanagar empire and attained full power after its decline thereby becoming Nayaks of Kalahasti.
