James Tobin (1898-1978) was an Irish hurler who played as a right corner-back for the Kilkenny senior team.
Tobin made his first appearance for the team during the 1920 championship and became a regular player over subsequent seasons along with his brother Dick Tobin. During that time he won one All-Ireland winner's medals and two Leinster winner's medals.
At club level Tobin played with the Emerald's club.
