Multan Sultans is a Pakistani professional Twenty20 franchise cricket team. The team is nominally based in Multan, and was formed in 2017 to compete in the third season of Pakistan Super League. Multan Cricket Stadium is team's home ground with a capacity of 35,000. Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram were expected to take on the responsibilities of head coach and team director respectively in PSL debut of the team. but Waqar Younis failed to reach an agreement with the management of the team.
Few days after the conclusion of PSL 2 Chairman PSL Najam Sethi announced that there would be the sixth team in next season of PSL. PCB short-listed five names for sixth team.
On 1 June 2017, from those five regions, Multan was bought by Schön Properties after winning a bid of US$5.2 million per year, thus becoming the most expensive team of the PSL replacing Karachi Kings then.
